Nova
Scotia Smallmouth
Bass Fishing
|
|
Come
bust a few smallmouth bass in Nova Scotia.
More and more American and Canadian anglers are pursuing bass.
The main reason: bass fishing in is exciting. The sporty freshwater
fish the smallmouth is well known for its fighting stamina and astounding
leaping ability.
On a light line, the smallmouth is a spectacular battler, often jumping
repeatedly and diving down into the depths. The average smallmouth bass
runs from 10 to 20 inches.
Smallmouth Bass fishing in Nova Scotia is just now becoming known outside
of the province, and there is little pressure on these abundant scrappy
fighters. Smallmouth
bass stake out different water than largemouths and their habitat extends
further into Canadian waters. They can be found in rocky and sandy areas
of lakes and rivers in moderately shallow water. The smallmouth will
respond to plastic baits, spinners and controlled depth diving jigs
and plugs. Both bait casting and spinning techniques are effective.
Canadian
Record: 9 lbs. 13.5 ounces.

It's a pleasant drive down the Clyde River Road. The river,
on the right, like the tree-lined, country road, twists and
turns at every bend. In the fall, the hardwood trees along
the the riverbank are a burst of colour. There are seven cottages
nestled among the hardwood trees (four two-bedroom and three
single-bedroom), each on their own lot for added privacy..
Each 'housekeeping' unit has everything you need for a family
vacation. Guests have free access to our fleet of canoes,
pedal boats and bicycles.
For
guests wishing to fish or hunt, Clyde River Cottages offers
free advice on bass, brown and speckled trout fishing,
Atlantic salmon fly fishing and the best deer and upland
bird hunting destinations in the region. The river continues
to attract fishermen, hunters and canoeing enthusiasts from
many parts of North America and beyond. And
there are many other things to enjoy locally as well.
