Brunswick Pond Fishing

Day tripping for tasty trout in New Brunswick
fishing ponds .....
For
Pond fishing equipment can be anything from a $200 graphite fly rod
with custom-tied flies to a cane pole with a bobber and worms dug from
the garden. Many pond anglers set their lawn chairs on the bank or docks
and cast to the edge of the vegetation or brush where fish like to hide.
Some prefer float tubes that take them to the right spots easily and
silently. Others like to launch a boat.
Most of the brook or speckled trout flies
are tied on hooks sizes from 10-16. Some of the more common fresh water
trout flies include: royal coachman, dark montreal, white wulff, woolly
worm, muddler minnow light and dark Cahill, and variations of the mosquito.
If
you want to practice your fly fishing technique or just cut your teeth
on fishing with a fly rod try a trip to a stocked pond. It can
be a great way for a family to spend the afternoon together.
Casting
and retrieve methods can be easily taught from the bank, and pond fish
will bite more readily than their larger-water cousins.
Your
license and equipment are provided as part of the fee.
The
Fredericton area and others are home to some beautiful pond fishing
establishments.

The
Anchorage Provincial Park |
Bay
of Fundy - New Brunswick |
Bring the kids, load up the canoe and head for The Anchorage
Provincial Park. This park is part of the wild, untamed
beauty which abounds on Grand Manan island! Relax on the
sloping sandy beach with the Bay of Fundy nipping at your
toes or check out the nearby freshwater ponds. One of these
ponds has some excellent fishing - a great spot to
cast your line for trout. It’s also an ideal place
to push your canoe or your kayak into the water with a a
shallow place for young children to swim and splash. The
multi-style camping with hookups, the picnic sites and panoramic
views of the Bay of Fundy make this an ideal camping destination.
Hiking trails provide an excellent opportunity to experience
the beauty of the island. Do some beachcombing, check out
the wildlife, book a day of whale-watching. email: Linda.Daggett@gnb.ca
