Quebec
Walleye Fishing Guide
|
|
Walleye are without a doubt one of the most popular game fish in Quebec.
More anglers prefer catching Walleye in both the summer and winter
than any other species. Quebec has a lot of walleye and they can be
found in large and small lakes and rivers throughout the province.
The meat is excellent and the highlight of any walleye trip in Quebec
is enjoying a famous shore lunch.
Strong
fighters, walleyes stay deep and wage a determined battle. In
most northern waters the walleye feeds most actively at sunrise and
sunset and night fishing can be very effective. The larger, mature
fish will come into shallow rock shoals and around islands to feed
and many trophys have been taken still or drift fishing. Populations
thrive in large, windswept natural lakes of moderate to low clarity.
Casting, drifting, trolling and even downrigging can be effective
techniques in fishing the walleye. Walleye will respond to a wide
range of natural and artificial bait with live minnows and weighted
jigs being the favourite year round.
Canadian Record: 22 lbs. 4 ounces.

New
Richmond - Gaspe |
Camp
Brûlé is a throwback to a time when modern
comforts meant far less to anglers than catching fish.
Its well-kept, white, clapboard buildings, including an
ice-house, cook's cabin, and guides' quarters, sport attractive
forest-green roofs and shutters, just as they did a century
ago. Anglers stay at the main camp, where cook Verna O'Neill
has long been preparing hearty meals. - American Plan
Dining
Fish roughly four miles of private water and a variety
of pools. Since Brûlé's close to the Gulf
of St. Lawrence, the salmon that reach its water are usually
bright and athletic. Most
of the salmon weigh from 12 to 15 pounds, but every season
anglers land plenty of 20-pounders and some 30-pounders.
