The NWT has a lot of fresh water and lots of phenominal trout fishing.
Lake
trout are sport fish as well as important commercially. Growth is quite
slow in most water bodies in the NWT yet twenty to thirty pound fish
are not uncommon. Those living in large lakes usually grow to a larger
size than those in smaller bodies of water. They will take the hook
in fly fishing, with artificial lures, as well as some baits.
Lake
trout are wide-spread in the NWT including the Arctic Islands. They
inhabit large lakes such as Great Slave and Great Bear where they support
trophy fisheries. They are found in many Shield lakes as well as in
deep lakes along the Mackenzie Valley and tundra lakes which extend
to the Arctic coast.
Imagine fishing for trout in crystalline azure waters .... drift fishing
...choosing the perfect lure or fly... discovering your very own fishing
hole ... and finally savoring the taste of your pan fried fresh trout.
